Tovio and the Calliope of the Future were born out of the necessity to warn the world, in an overly dramatic and vaudevillian manner of the possibility that there might be impending doom and/or disillusionment on the (event) horizon. The tunes are sometimes irreverent, sometimes melancholy, sometimes sci fi.
