Melchiore de Barberiis (c.1500 - after 1549) was an Italian lutenist. His securely documented legacy centres on a substantial printed lute tablature volume issued in Venice in 1549 by Girolamo Scotto, titled Opera intitolata contina… Intabolatura di lauto… Libro decimo. The title-page presents him as a reverend cleric from Padua and an “excellent” lute player, and the contents advertise a broad practical scope: fantasias, intabulations of vocal repertory, and pieces conceived for performance on one or two lutes.
