Mamdouh El Gebaly is an Egyptian oud virtuoso and composer, born on 1 July 1967 in Port Said, Egypt. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the High Institute of Arabic Music (معهد الموسيقى العربية) in Cairo and has been a prominent figure in the Egyptian solo oud tradition. El Gebaly’s recorded work includes solo projects and contributions to cross-genre albums, such as Egyptian Taqasim, Vol. 1 (1992) and Mozart l’Égyptien
