About Klaus Egge

Klaus Egge (Granskera 19-7-1906, Oslo 1979) was a Norwegian composer. Until 1945, the influence of folk music was central in his compositions. This period includes his piano sonata No.1, Op.4 "Draumkvædet" and the Halling Fantasy (Op.12, No.1). After World War II, the folk music influence became less apparent. This second period in his career is characterized by the development of a metamorphic technique, where the motif undergoes repeated transformations.
