
About Kenneth Sillito
Kenneth Sillito (born 5 March 1939 in Newcastle upon Tyne) is an English violinist and conductor. Biography: He was born into a working-class family of Walter and Margaret Sillit. He grew up in Stakeford. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music with David Martin (1911–1982), and in Rome with Remy Prìncipe (1889–1977). His first position was with the English Chamber Orchestra, which he led until 1973. In 1966 he founded the Gabrieli String Quartet, where he was the first violinist until 1986.
