About Johann Samuel Harsow

Johann Samuel Harsow (also listed as “Harson”) was a German organist active in Berlin in the late 18th century. He served as organist of the Marienkirche (St. Mary’s Church) from 1779 and died in Berlin on 11 March 1792. Sources discussing the Berlin organ scene describe him as a notable performer of Johann Sebastian Bach’s organ music and identify him as a pupil of Johann Philipp Kirnberger. A small number of his chorale preludes survive in the transmission of Berlin organ repertory
