About Placidus von Camerloher
Placidus Cajetanus Laurentius Camerloher was born in Murnau on 9 August 1718, his father Johann Baptist was a court clerk and his mother, Maria Anna Camerloher had been born in Freising. Some of his brothers were also musicians, the most prominent of them, Joseph Anton (1710–1743), working at the court in Munich. Placidus received his education at the Ritterakademie in Ettal and at the Jesuit Wilhelm Grammar School in Munich. When he was ordained as a priest in Freising Cathedral in 1744, he had already appeared as a musician and composer.
