About Charlie McAlister
Charlie McAlister (Charles Monroe McAlister, Columbia, South Carolina, March 4, 1969 - February 26, 2018) was an American folk singer, songwriter, musician and artist. Charlie was born in Columbia, SC, and moved with his family to Georgetown, SC, overseas to Athens, Greece, and eventually to Mount Pleasant, SC in 1979. He attended East Cooper School, then Wando High School, where he excelled in art. He attended the Chicago Art Institute and lived in Paris, France, and Los Angeles, CA, among other places.
