1. Ashes were an American post-hardcore band from Bethesda, Maryland. The band’s lineup consisted of lead vocalist Elena Ritchie, guitarist Brian McTernan, bassist Jack Radner, and drummer Matt Squire. Known for their hardcore-inspired sound blended with early emo elements, the band only lasted a few years, performing their first show in Washington, D.C., in December 1991, and their last in Syracuse, New York, in July 1995, where they disbanded shortly afterward.
