Structure

Thirty franchises split between the Eastern and Western Conferences, each conference divided into three five-team divisions. The regular season runs 82 games per team. Ten teams per conference qualify for the postseason — the top six advance directly, while seeds 7–10 contest a Play-In Tournament for the final two slots. The Finals are best-of-seven.

Format

Standings are determined by winning percentage, with tiebreakers including head-to-head, divisional record, conference record and points differential. The Larry O'Brien Trophy is awarded to the NBA Finals champion; the Bill Russell trophy goes to the Finals MVP.
