History
The English Premier League was founded on 20 February 1992 when the clubs of the Football League First Division broke away to negotiate their own broadcasting and sponsorship rights. The first Premier League season kicked off in August 1992 with 22 clubs; the league reduced to 20 from 1995–96. Manchester United dominated the early years under Sir Alex Ferguson with 13 titles, before challenges from Arsenal's "Invincibles" of 2003–04, Chelsea's Roman Abramovich era, the Sheikh Mansour-funded rise of Manchester City, and Liverpool's first league title in 30 years in 2019–20.
