About Zohar Argov
Zohar Argov (In Hebrew: זוהר ארגוב) (July 16, 1955 – November 6, 1987), born Zohar Orkabi in Rishon LeZion, Israel, was an iconic Israeli singer. Known as the ‘HaMelekh (The King) of Mizrachi music’, Argov is celebrated as one of the most influential figures in Mizrachi (Middle Eastern “Oriental”) Israeli music history. His Yemenite roots and powerful voice set him apart in a scene dominated by European Jewish (Ashkenazi) culture.
