
Yoko Hiraoka is a senior master performer of Koto, Biwa, Jiuta Shamisen and voice. A native of Kyoto, Japan, she studied classical Ikuta-ryu Koto and Shamisen music from an early age. She received a master level degree from Ono Mamoru, a direct disciple of Miyagi Michio and the founder of Somei Ongaku-kai in Tokyo. Her performance career originated in Japan and continues in the U.S., spanning over 30 years. Yoko Hiraoka presents some of the best and most exciting contemporary music for koto and shamisen and voice.
