Vincent Misonne, born about 1490 and died on April 5, 1550, was originally from Cambrai. After being a choirboy and a vicar at the Metropolitan Church of Cambrai , he resided in Rome from 1515 to 1519 as an Apostolic Notary under Pope Leo X Medici , an esthete and cultivated, the greatest patron of all the popes. It was during this stay in Rome that the choir of Cambrai made himself known. His works, three masses and two motets with four voices, are marked by a clever counterpoint that recalls that of the full fifteenth century.
