Vicky D was an early 1980s New York singer active in the post-disco and boogie scene. Signed to SAM Records, she released the single “This Beat Is Mine” in 1981, produced by Gary R. Turnier of Gary’s Gang and co-written by André Booth. The track became a club favorite, reaching No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard Dance chart and No. 42 in the U.K., capturing the synth-driven funk and soul sound of the city’s underground dance floors. She followed with “Mystery Lover” in 1982
