Vanessa Mardueño’s /Mardwhenyo/, family is originally from Mexicali, Mexico. However born in the United States, her musical roots not only lie in the latin rhythms of her ancestry but also from the East Los Angeles Reggae/Ska scene. For years, she played local cafes, small clubs, and bars as a stand out singer/songwriter known for her unique guitar style and jazzy vocals, opening for bands such as Ozomatli and Quinto Sol. However, in 2004, she became a Christian.
