Valentin Dretzel , also Drechsel , Tretzel or Trexel (baptized May 30, 1578 in Nuremberg ; died March 1658 ibid) was a German organist and composer. After completing his training, he worked as an organist in various churches in his hometown. He came from a musical family, his brothers Michael (1576-1635) and Wolfgang (1585-1655) were also musicians. In addition to numerous occasional works, he mainly composed sacred vocal music, including a Magnificat and several motets in a polyphonic setting.
