Erasmus Sartorius (1577 in Schleswig - October 17, 1637 in Hamburg) was a German composer, organist and poet. Erasmus Sartorius attended the Latin school in his hometown. Because he was a good singer, he became a member of the chapel at the court in Gottorf Castle when he was ten years old . After studying theology at the University of Rostock, he first became organist in Bordesholm, then cantor at St. Mary's Church in Rostock. In 1604 he became vicar at Hamburg's Mariendom .
