Mandolinist Tom Ohmsen describes his new CD "Acoustinova" as his version of a new kind of "jazz-swing-latin-bluegrass-blues music. It's based on the concept of a what if -- as in what if bluegrass pioneer Bill Monroe had collaborated with jazz (and gypsy) guitar innovator Django Reinhardt? There's no telling what really would have happened had such a meeting taken place, but this album is my interpretation of that musical fantasy," says Ohmsen. "And it's 100% acoustic-- no pickups, no amps, just wood, wires, and some good microphones!"
