Anfang 2005 starteten Frank Haehnelt und Veiko Tüllmann das Projekt THIS DROWNING MAN. Mitte 2007 stieß Sänger Roland Klein hinzu, der sich in den 90ern durch die Zusammenarbeit mit SISTERS OF MERCY – Ikone ANDREW ELDRITCH und seiner Veröffentlichung auf dessen Hauslabel MERCIFUL RELEASE einen Namen machte.
