Thirsty Forest Animals started playing together in 1988 in Southfield, Michigan and relocated to Chicago in 1991. Thanks in part to the curation of the otherworldly cool staff at Play It Again records (two Thirsties worked there; all were regular shoppers), they fell under the sway of a heavenly host of blissed out British bands on labels like Creation and 4AD. Their interstellar sound rode on effects pedals, non-standard guitar tunings, and dreams beyond the great lakes teenage wasteland. Their recordings were made in basements on a 4-track.
