About The Swan Silvertones

The Swan Silvertones were a gospel vocal group that performed in the 1940s and 1950s. Originally called the Four Harmony Kings, they were formed in 1938 by Claude Jeter, a West Virginia miner, and included Solomon Womack. They obtained their own radio show in Knoxville, TN sponsored by Swan bakeries, and changed their name to the Swan Silvertone Singers. The Swan Silvertones have been around, seemingly, forever. Claude Jeter originally formed the group as the Four Harmony Kings, way back in 1938. Jeter died in 2009, but
