About The Supremes
The Supremes were an American girl group formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1959 as the Primettes. They were the leading act of Motown Records during the 1960s and became the most commercially successful act on the label, as well as the most successful American vocal group, achieving twelve number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Many of these recordings were written and produced by Motown’s principal songwriting and production team, Holland–Dozier–Holland.
