
The Silicon Scientist (a.k.a. Stefan Bornhorst from Bremen/northern Germany) started to play the piano at the age of 8 (in 1980), and got in touch with "analogue" synthesis when messing around with the Commodore 64's SID chip in the 1980s. His first real analogue synth was the Korg MS10 in 1991, followed by more analogue synthesisers, string machines and a Mellotron when they were still affordable.
