About The Romancers

#1 Bobby Freeman started singing in a doo-wop group called The Romancers when he was 14. In 1956 the quintet managed to get onto Dootone Records and had two singles released on the label, including the rocker "House Cat". Freeman was only 17 when he wrote and recorded his first hit, "Do You Want To Dance" #2 Before the Premiers, Cannibal & the Headhunters, and The Blendells, there was The Romancers. The Romancers were the first East L.A. Chicano band to record an album and were the main influence of the mid-sixties East L.
