About The Overtakers
The Overtakers are Ruben Brooks, Ruth Brooks and LeRoy Williams from Jamaica. Born in 1950, Ruben Brooks grew up in Kingston, Jamaica with the legends of reggae. He drew inspiration from the scene that inspired Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, and Lee Scratch Perry – each of whom Ruben knew personally in his youth. Ruben's songs are all original. The band is completed by Brooks' rhythm and Williams' percussive bass tones and vocals. The Overtakers currently work with Eco-conscious record label Tree Leaf Records in Atlanta, GA.
