About The Original Surfaris
The Surfaris of Wipe Out fame had derived their name through combining that of vocal group the Safaris with the word surf. It was a neat idea and perhaps no great surprise that another group from Southern California had thought of it first. However, because the success of Wipe Out had established them nationally, a court decision allowed the hit group to keep the name and forced the others to change theirs to the Original Surfaris.
