New York City-based The King of France is journalist Michael Azerrad on drums and Steve Salad (ex-Deformo) on guitar and vocals. The band released their debut album Salad Days on Egret Records in 2003 and their national self-titled release on Echo Records in 2005. Steve Salad is originally from Minneapolis and his brother is performer Peter Salett. Neither a stranger to fame, Michael Azerrad wrote Our Band Could Be Your Life and the Nirvana bio Come As You Are, and is a frequent music critic and commentator on television and in magazines.
