About The Harvey Girls
The Harvey Girls, named after the famed railroad waitresses, was formed in Lawrence, Kansas, in 2003 by Melissa Rodenbeek and Hiram Lucke. Their music stands as a cross between Prince Paul's production work and the songs of the Shangri-Las (that's what they're sticking with; feel free to come up with your own description). They now reside in Portland, Oregon. The influences for their genre-bending electro, folk, bluegrass, rock, and soul music include: The Beach Boys, Bjork, Kate Bush, Can, Captain Beefheart, De La Soul, Dr.
