The Government Rams are composed of two members of Shanneyganock (Chris Andrews and Mark Hiscock), Billy Sutton from The Fables, and Patrick Moran from The Punters. The group performs traditional Newfoundland songs. Their name was taken from Newfoundland history; many years ago, it was common for outport Newfoundlanders to raise sheep, but very few families had a ram. The government stepped in, and purchased rams that would be sent, on request, to different areas of the province to help the sheep population.
