The General Specific are a band formed in October 2008 in Leuven, Belgium. Marten and Jan had been friends for some time and decided it was time to start a band. Nick completed the party of three. It didn't take long before they decided to name the band The General Specific, after a song by Band of Horses. The band's music is slightly influenced by the band's favourite artists, such as The Beatles, The National, Death Cab For Cutie, Bloc Party, The Whitest Boy Alive
