About The Formations

The Formations were a Philly soul band who released three singles in 1967 and 1968. Members were Jerry Akines, Johnny Bellmon, Reginald Turner, and Victor Drayton. One of their songs, "At the Top of the Stairs," has become a Northern Soul classic. The song was co-written by group member Jarry Akines along with Philadelphia soul legend Leon Huff.
