About The Flakes
There are at least four bands known as "The Flakes". One is a garage rock band from the Bay Area. Another is a hard pop band from Sweden. There was also a funk/disco outfit masterminded by Mel Bolton and Marilyn McCleod, who had produced the act with assistance from mixers Jimmy Simpson and Rick Gianatos and achieved immortality with "Sugar Frosted Lover", described as "a lightweight lyric transformed by spine-tingling vocals into a tour de force of dance nirvana". They are said to have vanished from sight shortly afterwards.
