The Daily Show is a Peabody and Emmy Award-winning American satirical television program produced by and airing on Comedy Central. The half-hour long show premiered on Monday, July 22, 1996, and was hosted by Craig Kilborn, who acted as its anchorman. Kilborn left the show in December 1998; Jon Stewart has hosted since January 1999. Providing news-related comedy in the tradition of several popular comedic forerunners (Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" segment
