About The Coventry Automatics
The Coventry Automatics was one of several early names used by Coventry, UK band The Specials. First known simply as The Automatics, the discovery of another band using the same name prompted the shift to The Coventry Automatics. Shortly after, the title "The Special AKA The Coventry Automatics" was adopted and then shortened to The Special AKA (also seen as The Special A.K.A.) for the band's time as support for The Clash's 'On Parole' tour in June/July, 1978.
