About The Caliban Quartet
The Caliban Quartet of Bassoonists was founded in 1993, comprised of Toronto's top four bassoonists and dedicated to playing chamber music of the highest quality from all kinds of genres. Before playing its last concert in December, 2008, the Quartet played dozens of concerts throughout Canada including the opening of the IDRS convention in Banff in 2002; the quartet made three outstanding recordings on the CBC Records, BIS and ATMA labels and had over 15 new works written for them.
