About The Barons
Many bands have used the name The Barons (at least 12 groups from The USA). Among them: The Barons (misspelled The Barrons on a couple of singles), a New Orleans-based vocal group that recorded a series of funk and sweet soul 45s during the 60s and 70s. The group worked extensively with producer Wardell Quezerque and songwriter Joe Broussard. The group formed in the Desire projects in the mid-1960s. Founding members were James Youngblood, brothers Albert and Alvin Savoy and Lloyd Shepard.
