About The Barbarellas
(For the Irish electropop duo see Barbarellas.) 1) An Australian powerpop band. The Barbarellas were signed to Sydney label Citadel records in early 1990, who put out all their releases, starting with the debut 7" Dying Inside/Forget About You. The Barbarellas' brand of punchy power pop/rock was indelibly stamped on the local Sydney music scene with the release of the Fringe EP. The band enjoyed high rotation on Triple J with the track Depression and as a result, the record peaked at number two on the ARIA Independent Charts.
