About The Alan Lomax Collection
Alan Lomax, the son of John Lomax, recorded people from the country in the early days of recording, when equipment weighed around 300 pounds. He and his father would pile it into the back of a pickup and drive around the south, recording legends like Leadbelly and prisoners in Angola Prison, amoung others.
