As the clamour of generic, derivative, and largely uninspired dubstep becomes ever more deafening, producers with one foot firmly in the real roots of dubstep - experimentalism and minimalism - are too often struggling to have their voices heard. SUBS' productions, often sparse, subtle, stripped bare, could rarely be coined "dance music". Instead the emphasis lies in preserving the lush texture of the production, in the exploration of frequency, in the delicate development of vocal and instrumental players.
