Shocked Elevator Family formed in Birmingham in 2001 as a side project of noisy upstarts thee Reverends. Billed as The Monotones, the band played their first show in a school hall. However they soon decided to ditch the 'sexy school boy' image, and changed their name to Whitaker's Almanac. Following the inclusion of Ralph Morton and David Morris in the line up, the band finally settled on Shocked Elevator Family and established themselves in Birmingham's emerging "New Rock" collective
