There is two Hardcore bands by this name: 1) Self Defense is a melodic hardcore band from Curitiba, PR - Brazil. 2) Self Defense was a hardcore punk band from Connecticut. 1) By their first year together, back in 2001, SELF DEFENSE was already pointed as one of the highlights on the South Brazilian undergound scene. More instrumentally agressive than the other bands and with well-worked melodic vocal lines, the band soon signed to Oba!Records, one of the biggest independent labels in the Country.
