Robert John, (born Robert John Pedrick, Jr. in Brooklyn, New York, on 3 January 1946; died 24 February 2025) was an American singer-songwriter remembered for his song "Sad Eyes" that features hiss falsetto vocals and reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in summer 1979. Earlier, John had a #3 hit in 1972 in the USA with his version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight".
