
Ralph Towner (born in Chehalis, Washington, on 1 March 1940; died 18 January 2026) was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist (especially guitar), composer, arranger, and bandleader who played the twelve-string guitar, classical guitar, piano, synthesizer, percussion, trumpet, and French horn. Towner made notable recordings of jazz, classical music, folk music, and world music. In college Towner first majored in music composition at the University of Oregon.
