About Plethyn

Folk group Plethyn were formed during the 70s and comprised Linda Healy (b. 11 May 1958, Welshpool, Powys, Wales), Roy Griffiths (b. 15 December 1952, Welshpool, Powys, Wales) and John Gittins (b. 30 November 1951, Welshpool, Powys, Wales). The name Plethyn is meant to convey the notion of three harmonic voices blending together to form one sound, like the three strands in a plait. Having started with local performances, the group extended their territory to cover the whole of Wales.
