The September 2023 album Some Mississippi Sunday Morning is formally credited to Parchman Prison Prayer, which is not an 'artist' or 'band', but a collective noun. The album is a collection of in situ recordings from Mississippi State Penitentiary, the infamous maximum security prison known as Parchman Farm. Producer Ian Brennan recorded the prison's Sunday gospel service and the results are haunting and unforgettable. Performances range from solo a capella to a floor-shaking band.
