About Otto Gibelius
Otto Gibel (also: Gibelius; born 1612 in Burg auf Fehmarn; died October 20, 1682 in Minden) was a music theorist, composer and teacher. Otto Gibel's father, Abraham Gibelius, was provost in Burg on Fehmarn. Since the plague raged on Fehmarn, Otto Gibel left the island and moved to live with relatives in Braunschweig, where he received his training at the Katharinenschule. From 1631 he received music lessons there from Heinrich Grimm , a student of Michael Praetorius .
