About Orchid Ensemble
The Orchid Ensemble is led by Lan Tung from Taiwan, and joined by Gelina Jiang from Wuhan, China and Canadian percussionist Jonathan Bernard. With a unique instrumentation of erhu/Chinese violin, zheng/Chinese zither, and the western concert marimba, plus various percussion instruments from around the world, the trio combines musical traditions from China and beyond, creating a distinct new sound. Its repertoire ranges from the traditional and contemporary music of China, World Music, New Music to Creative Improvisation.
