About Nora Ney
Called "The Queen of Blue", Nora Ney (Iracema de Souza Ferreira - Mar 20, 1922 Rio de Janeiro - Oct 28, 2003 Rio de Janeiro) debuted on the radio in 1951. Her unmistakable contralto voice helped forge a peculiar style. She would be the first person to record the hallmark rock song "Rock Around the Clock" (Bill Halley) in Brazil, in 1956. But it was in the Brazilian bolero type ("or samba-canção") that she reached success. She worked as a crooner in nightclubs and continued to work on the radio
