Nicolas de Rans (Nicolaus de Rans, Nicolas de Rantz) (fl. c. 1550–1570) Nicolas de Rans was a Franco-Flemish composer active in the mid-16th century, known today almost entirely through the transmission of his music in printed anthologies rather than through documentary biography. Nothing secure is known about his birthplace, training, or professional appointments, but stylistic and source evidence places him firmly within the Franco-Netherlandish
